This chart shows the number of years needed to work in Germany to buy a house in various Southeast Asian countries. The estimated house prices for each country were calculated by multiplying the Price to Income Ratio from NUMBEO by each country's GDP per capita. For example, if a country's Price to Income Ratio is 10 and its GDP per capita is $10,000, the estimated house price would be $100,000. Then, these estimated house prices were divided by Germany's GDP per capita to determine the approximate number of years needed. This calculation does not take into account living expenses, taxes, etc.
Price to Income Ratio is a metric that compares house prices to household income, used to assess housing affordability.
